On a 60km bicycle trip from Frankfurt to Mainz – testing our cargo bike and tall bike for the long road to Mongolia – each of us learned a new instrument: Trombone, Tenor Horn, Accordion . . .
Along the way, we met a percussionist from South Africa, and we all headed out to the streets of Mainz, improvising some of our current favorite songs:
- Balkan Pop
- Miserlou
- St. Patrick
- The Happy Nigun
direct from the streets of Spain!
recordings from 14 days on bicycles in Andalucía are ready --
the story behind the music is beyond words . . . so are the improvisations:
* Banarchists
our theme song, recorded on a rainy day in a squatted house in Barcelona
* Soy Michael Jackson
with Jose on the streets of Carboneras, where we camped for 2 days on the beach. He approached me and said, „Hola! What is you‘re name? Can I play your guitar?“ I said, „Sure,“ and got out the clarinet to play along to a song that I‘d not yet heard.
* 4 chicas
with girls on the streets of Aguilas, who wanted to sing us their favorite song, supported from the beat on their mobile phones.
* Madame Bonsai
Soapy and Feugo were sitting near Place de la Virgene in Valencia, waiting for Madame Bonsai, and started to improvise on the guitar . . .
* Miserlou
under the canopy ceiling in Park Guel, Barcelona, we suddenly had an audience of over 50 clapping school kids . . .
coming soon:
